Aldemar,

It appears you tried a simple portrait of a friend, but ran into some lighting problems.  The range of contrast was simply too much: from full sunlight coming in the window to dark shadows indoors. Digital photography cannot capture enough different tones to hold the full range. Here you are geting burned-out highlights.

One solution is to adjust the camera to taking a picture outdoors and then light the indoors to match using a flill flash or two on the shadows.  Another is to decide you want the picture of a friend indoors and don't want to include the outdoor light coming in the window.

There are other techniques, if you take the original picture in RAW Format in which you modify the RAW to maximize the quality of the highlights and make another picture layer and modify it to maxiimize the quality of the shadows  - these are then blended by certain techniques to give you an acceptable result.

Regards,

Jerry Matchett
