Jeff Lear 0 Posted September 18, 2010 I find your title apropos given that the image strikes me as grey... and flat. That isn't to say that I don't like the composition or the elements as a whole, I do. I feel that it would benefit from a levels adjustment to increase the contrast, especially in the foreground. I've provided an example which is quite possibly overdone, but maybe somewhere in between my processing and yours. I also feel that more attention needs to be drawn to the tree in the foreground and that was my intention in this example, along with a levels adjustment. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted September 18, 2010 Wonderfully composed with lots of gentle curves and a sky that has character. And let us not forget that vital but lonesome tree. This is precisely what your vision was for this scene based on your title. I guess for Jeff and i we were looking for something a bit more dramatic. As Jeff says, his has probably gone too far and what i have done is still probably not far enough but being prudent with my time, I did not want to go any further.I used the photoshop CS2 highlight/shadow/mid range contrast to punch things up a bit. Then i used a brightness.contrast adjustment layer to work on just the sky. There is more that one can do but just wanted to pass only some non judgmental comments that were intended to be constructive. Still a fine image. Link to comment
simay_zsolt 0 Posted September 18, 2010 thanks for sharing your views about this image, both attachements are very well processed, and they definitley look very good. Maybe I need some more courage in processing images. :) Link to comment
Jeff Lear 0 Posted September 18, 2010 Zsolt, I've seen your portfolio and I'm pretty sure your okay on the processing thing... amazing and beautiful stuff in there. The bottom line is that perhaps I've missed your vision for this photograph. As I said, I find it quite beautiful in it's composition and the elemental placement of subjects in your frame, I simply feel that it lacks contrast... That doesn't mean I'm right. Link to comment
