I very much like this picture, Dave, the confusion of angles going this way and that. and not a single line parallel to the edges of the picture. I have some reservations about the processing of the image, though.  There seems to have been some sharpening and there's a slight bit of a ghost effect on the lines. Personally, I think that for a picture like this to transcend its subject matter (which it almost does) the gradations of tone must be a little smoother. This feels like a crop from a larger picture (at least the pores of this picture are larger than I'd like to see) although certainly time of day might also have had something to do with it. I don't usually spend this much time critiquing a picture but I definitely could see something here that I liked as well as some things that I believe held the picture back a little. Regards, Jack

Thanks for the detailed and very helpful commentary, Jack.   I'll go back and take another look at the original and full scale processed versions.  I think I may be able to refine it in the direction you suggest but it was taken in late, late afternoon so the grain may not be so much an artifact of processing but but noise.
