Nice shot...the perspective is everything. I would only ask that you burn in the policemans face shield so it is not such a glaring detail. You may even consider a crop of the head since the focal point is all the gear he is decked out in from his shoulders to his feet.

Probably the finest of all the "protest" shots posted to photo.net because it's not making a political statement with shoddy composition. This is well done, well composed, well exposed, and well thought out. Nice Job.

It's really great.

What a difference from the policeman dressed as a warrior of a science-fiction movie and the unarmed girl. The power and the right....

Very, very nice. I've been working on rally shots for a few months now, and am quite impressed that you found a shot like this... even more that you could get it :) i know it can get hairy up close! Perhaps you could take a look at my shots and give me a hint or two. Great shot!

Great angle. Great photo. I like the blurred police in the background and the composition. I don`t know if cutting the head off was intentional or not but it works well giving the trooper a sort of "very bad" feel.

very good perspective, composition and presentation. This looks like very good photo journalism.

Why 160 ASA? It looks like there is light enough and DOF enough. In fact the bottom is out of focus, the same as the soldier. The picture as photojournalism is EXCELENT. Some more pictures like this and we will live in a better world.

...and get this into their collection. I'm not sure what Portland has down there, but there must be something like Seattle's MOHAI (Museam Of History And Industry) and, trust me, they will kill for an image like this. Really great journalistic shot that also manages to be artistically pleasing.

In a word, Jim, ABSOLUTELY. It's both timeless and terrifying. Magnificent use of depth of field. And now I know what became of Dar Vadar -- he works for the Portland Police.

The image is a very good one. I commend you on the capture of a tense moment. Regardless, the E-10 cannot possibly blur that background without the usage of a gaussian blur or similar tool. From the guidelines of the "Standards for Unmanipulation", as you've checked "No" seems to be a bit off. I could certainly be wrong, and if I am, I apologize pre-emptively.

Take a look at the cop in the background. His head and upper body are much more blurred than his boot, or the details of the pavement behind him. There are other clear signs that the background of this photo was blurred not in camera, but in photoshop.

So what's the problem? Well, this photo is allegedly unmanipulated. So now we end up asking, is that cop really faceless, or was it a photoshop job to make him look more menacing?

Well, who knows?

It really captures the conflict of the moment. I really like the depth of field and the angle of view. Those boots look like something out of science fiction. If you've got a second, please take a look at my protest pictures and let me know what you think. Thanks, Justin
