I like the mist, and the way the other animals fade into the background.  Only suggestion I might offer, is to frame it next time with the animal either on the left or right side, rather than smack in the middle.  This just mixes it up a bit, and makes it look less like a 'snapshot'.  Either way, like the image.

Hi Mike...this is a very interesting scene (mist + nice face expression) which is totally "ruined" by composition. You placed your subject in the middle which rarely looks balanced and above all you chopped the deer's legs. Maybe a vertical framing in which the whole body would be included and a shallow DOF would create a very compelling portrait shot. Regards from Greece, Teo
