I like it! First I was thinking that I was looking at two chairs almost buried in a very fine sand! :) Good B&W picture! Regards!

Thank you, George and Wanghan for dropping by and for your comments. I have been slow at catching up on comments, but they are much appreciated. Wind and snow are good partners.

I think one of the best things we can say about a picture is that it made you stop and look. We rush through our day without really seeing much at all so that when a photo halts us in our tracks, as this one did me, it's quite an accomplishment.

Hi Jack,

I appreciate your comment about the image capturing your attention. When I saw the particular lighting and the windswept snow it did the same for me. I found the two gravestones really expressive, as if a couple was buried side by side and even cold snow could not quench their ardour. Perhaps far fetched, but I find cemeteries to be places not devoid of human emotion.

The photo hung in my little seasonal gallery for a year or two before a Chinese professor of French, visiting our area from her US midwest university, purchased it and remarked that her parents in China had died not long before and this image gave her comfort and meant something to her. Oriental values are perhaps different from ours, or perhaps not entirely? Anyway, photography affords us much connection with others.
