when one sees a shot like this, that is a shot with great ingredients, one tends to look at things more critically.  I think that the kid, his positioning and the white fluffy whatever-he-is-lying-on are superb.  As are the tones.  However, the backdrop is of a different tone/brightness, and that doesn't fit it.  It should be of the same brightness as the FG fluffy stuff, or at least without the darker folds that attract attention, IMHO.  Also, the dark stuff on the boy's body, on the very left doesn't fit in.  To my taste, this composition should have the viewer focus on the super-cute boy.  This photo is already kinda high key, so having dark and darker spots and well-defined lines (such as the folds in the BG) in there creates distractions.  Some contours, some shape to the BG is good.  Solid white wouldn't probably look nice.  The trick here is to fine-tune the BG so it walks a good line between gentle "shapeness" (such as the FG) and solid white.  That's my opinion, I'm not saying it's right.  Cheers, Micheal
