David, I love the caption you suggested. Like all other penguins, Gentoos feed in the ocean but they nest on hills. The constant going back and forth creates those "roads" on the ice.

This is fantastic. I liek it all. The compostion, the slight blue cast to make me feel the cold, the placement of the penguins. No complaints. Great nature work.

Shun, excuse my ignorance, what causes the contours - the penguins themselves from all the toing and froing? (Please don't laugh, I'm in earnest!)

It's a super shot, I love the gait of these fellows. I see Scott's point about the blue cast communicating the cold; but is it all cast, from some of the Natgeo footage I've viewed, the ice at these extremes does seem to reflect blue at times.

Good work.

Great catch, and the timing is such that it looks like the last fella is trying to make up his mind, do I go left or do I go right is a key aspect of this great shot, mainly because he is facing right with the body and looking left.

I see a this being a great shot to use with a poster with some caption about leaders and followers, or follow your own path etc..

Great shot.

Beautiful image. You have caught the last penguin at exactly the right moment of indecision. Toning the blue cast down a bit might be good.

This is an incredible image!
It looks like the last guy can't decide what road to take, follow the mass or the alternative one!
Excellent tone and composition.

Shun,

for the first time I've checked out your gallery here. Wonderful shots. My nephew used to call penguins Ping-Pings when he was little. I like penguins & envy you the experience of having seen them in person in Antarctica. Now I know two people who've made this trip & the experience must have been something out of this world.

I imagine this is the light making the ice blue - - but there is such a thing as blue ice.

Super fun shot.

Lil
