When I was hiking in Coastal Oregon recently, I found numerous shrubs in densely packed nearly impenetrable thickets.  I was interested in the flowers of "Gaultheria Shallon" shrub.  They are very small white flowers hanging in a row, like bells!  On close examination, I found a very symmetrical star pattern on them with fine red bristles.  The buds are almost translucent.  The dark blue fruits ("berries") in these shrubs are actually sepals - part of the swollen flower.   Taking a sharp image of them is challenging since they dance in the gentlest of winds!  I ventured deep in the shrubs to take this shot - the dense shrub provided the protection I needed from the winds.  After several minutes, I found one to my liking - with a large empty void behind the flowers to provide me the right background I needed for this composition.
