lynnwood42 0 Posted March 19, 2003 Very pretty colors! Nice picture! It looks like it should be for sale somewhere! Link to comment

philmorris 0 Posted March 19, 2003 Did you say you chucked this in? No wonder you can carry packs loaded with huge lumps of glass all day. Much better in my opinion. Because it overcomes the shortcomings I was whinging about previously. It looks sharper and I've got something to gawp at. I like that the "peak" of the foreground rock you chucked in points to the peak of the distant island. Nice compositional detail that. Good colours too. I still notice a bit of horizon curvature, do you? Link to comment
philmorris 0 Posted March 19, 2003 I should add that I have no problem with pictures displaying horizon curvature whatsoever. It's no big deal. It's real. It's wide angle. Link to comment
mclaine 0 Posted March 19, 2003 I've got enough pictures of Morey's Beach to drive us all insane by the end of the month. Just bunging 'em up one at a time. That rock was too big to fit in my pack. Had it strapped to the outside. Cheers, Link to comment
Brian 836 Posted March 19, 2003 The minimalist composition is wonderful but I can't bring myself to like the colors. Link to comment
mclaine 0 Posted March 19, 2003 Brian, I'm interested in your comment. Are you implying that these sunset colours are unnatural, or just that they don't appeal to you? I did no colour manipulation to the scan. My screen looks true to the slide, which is true to my memory of that sunset. I guess the Provia film may have recorded the colours slightly differently to the actual coulour at the time, but the difference would be more subtle than my ability to pick it. The granite looks the right colour. This was just a few minutes after sunset, and the pink glow quickly faded. I might add that the air in Tasmania comes straight out of the southern ocean, and is amongst the cleanest in the world. We therefore often get pure, soft sunset colours, unlike the blazes of red and orange seen when there are more particles in the air. We do get those colours during the bushfire season, or when farmers are burning off. Cheers, Link to comment
nomade 1 Posted March 21, 2003 I don't find this one *that* attractive to say it's amazing. Anyway, good range of pastel colors, could be well hanged on any wall to give a calm mood to the ambient. Link to comment
peten 0 Posted March 23, 2003 So few elements & colours yet so appealing because of that simplicity. As usual, outstanding. Regards Pete. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted March 28, 2003 Looks like a seal to me, which is a good thing. the rock is so interesting that I would like to see it under stronger, or more directional light. Not necessarily bright sunlight, but something that would bring out more texture. Placement and composition is very good. Link to comment
maria_s. 1 Posted March 29, 2003 I like the other version better as well but it's up to John to make a decision (nothing wrong with this one but my personal bias against pink) . I uploaded lots of pictures that needed improvement and waited for a feedback -- I think that's a good way to learn. So, all comes to what we want from this site -- I am not saying I don't care or that I am not competetive but that's not my priority here. And I am happy I have photo.net forum to experiment.
