V-E-R-T-I-G-O !!!!!!

In all seriousness, this is one of the coolest, most original pictures I've seen on photo.net in a long time. And that's saying a lot. What I really, really like about it is that it's, well, a ratther ordinary scene turned on it's head (sorry!) that adds an extraordinary amount of tension and humor to the mundane. Bra-vo!

It took me a while to orientate myself. Unusual angle, what a pleasant surprise.

From an interesting photo right side up to a really great eye catching photo when turned upside down in current configuration. Very high marks all around - good use of B&W

Thank you everyone for all the kind words. I thought of this shot a couple years ago and finally got around to shooting it last summer.

The barrel distortion in my 17-35 lens puts a small curve in the horizon and it almost looks to me as if I'm seeing the curvature of the earth. Also, I thought by tilting the camera it would contribute to that illusion.

The surprise for me was the impact once I turned the photo upside down.

Whoa!!! It made me a little jump a little when I first looked at it. I guess it is the Dad in me. It really caused some emotion. I like it.

This photo catches my eye, but trips me out. The kid is looking at me, and it seems as if he's about to fall off something very tall. At the same time, the child's expression reveals delight and security; it just takes me awhile to figure out how the shot works. Cute.

Nice twist on things, photography should give a new way of looking at things and it did. Takes a minute to figure everything out, kind of distracting, but nice once you get your focus. Thats why I gave it a 5 for aesthetics (but a 7 for originality)
