Unlike other members of community, that goose was quite brave and

curious... Probably, he expected to get some tasty food... Little by

little, very slow, maybe staying on top alert, he approached me. A

goose came up to a man with camera and only short strip of open water

separated us...That time I realized how hostile might be an empty

space surrounding the goose, if he would be moving toward, say a

hunter with a hidden gun or some sort of unfriendly person.

Interestingly, the goose was acting in a way, resembling that one of

any negotiators, envoys, engaged in dangerous missions, which might

cost life. It seemed like the goose was saying "I came in peace...".

And I respect his bravery and trust.

I would appreciate any critique, ratings. Thanks for your time.

More likely "I come in hunger" instead of "I come in peace". :-) But jokes aside, I really love this photo. It brings a smile to my face at the end of this long and ominous (if you've been reading the news) day.

Buck, thanks for the comment and rating. Unlike my daughter, 7th grader, I missed thoday news. But you reminded me just in time about the coincidence. I mean, this goose have a chance to become a famous antagonist of George W.

Hi Vlad,

Another excellent shot by you. The road that unifies the main subject Gueese with all the other ducks adds a nice level of unity, the story and perfect composition also helps me give you another set of very high ratings.

Cheers,

Ringo

I've tried to photograph Canada Geese near my home. They almost always turn and walk slowly away from you. Good catch finding one coming at you, better yet the way you caught it away from the group. The title cracked me up.

Thanks all for your interest and ratings.

Stanley, I'm also asking myself how it could be possible to get them walking toward rather than away. That why I posted this image. There were even two 'envoys' walking toward in the same manner, however I cropped right half of the picture to strengthen composition.

I realize, that the title looks funny in light of last political events. However the photo was inspired completely by my school time recollections when I was wisiting my grandma and her sister's farm during summer holidays. Since that time I know well, that there are two most hostile kind of farm animals, geese and bees. I was energetic as many teens of 12-13, and my farm initiatives were disturbing peaceful everyday life of other farm residents. Naturally, I was beaten by both of them many times. Now we have a loot of Canadian geese around, but I can't say that wild brothers more friendly either. So, this kind of unusual behavour became a surprise for me too. It would be interesting to know, if somebody else observed something like that.

Actually, Vlad, I like your description even better in light of recent events. Would work even better if you photo-shopped a white flag into his beak, 'cause if we can't laugh there's nothing to do but cry.
