I know I am a little biased on this photo so I'm looking for other opinions

on technique.

Please list at least 1 thing I did well, and 1 thing that needs

improvement.

Any and all critiques are welcome.

Thanks

In every aspect !

Congrats !

The standard size doesn't show nothing but the composition! The larger size shows the extraordinary technical quality, the smoothness of the B&W tones and therefore the tenderness of the children skin etc. Great image, by the way!

Outstanding by all means, wishing you all of the best my friend.

With kids it's all about expression, so I would consider this one a success.  Their expressions reveal their inner feelings at the instant of exposure. (one of them was less  happy than the other two)   On how to improve, well, a bit of fill to lighten up the eye sockets and put some sparkle there wouldn't hurt.  I've used this setup myself so I'm a bit biased. Check out my 2009 folder.  In any case, great result for the family album or wall hanging.  Best, LM.

I used off camera flash and bounced it off a white ceiling.  The kids were on a white sheet in with a big window behind them.

Would you suggest a reflector in front of them, between me and the them,  to lighten the eyes?

Don't push your luck !

Your breeds are gorgeous !

Let them play and just catch them: tough task :)

A reflector?  Most definitely yes!  A piece of foam-core the appropriate size would do nicely.  It would also negate Florin's caution in that it would not interfere with your subjects but would use the bounced flash (still only one source required) to lighten the eyes a bit.  Studio on the cheap!  As an aside:  a couple of small pillows, placed correctly, might allow the infant to be posed vertically or something approximating vertical.  Especially as he\she approaches 5 months old.  (Check out "Jessica @ 41\2 months old" in my 2009 folder).   Best, LM.

I think that composition-wise (placement of the "objects") you nailed it, but IMO the infant's expression doesn't fit into the scene.  The bigger kids' expressions are great.  For that reason I'd rather not see the infant there.  Cheers, Micheal

This is our first set up with all three boys.  The infant is less that 1 week old and a little less than happy.  It's hard for them to be happy when they're not feeding or sleeping.  More photos will follow, Placement and expressions will be practiced throughout  But I will try to get one of the two older boys alone in this pose.  Thanks!
