You got a great shot out of that bridge. You are a very good photographer and really have an eye for it. Best of luck to you.

Let's say someone asked me to do a picture of this bridge. If I had the day to plan, I would find out where the sun rises and get the bridge when it was lit from a lower angle on the side where you photographed it. Then it would highlight the bridge, which is one heck of a piece of construction over that awesome gorge. It is a very respectable picture, but if you want critique, I think it could be better by planning your sun angle. I believe nature photogs have gizmos and data on sun angles for such a purpose. As a tourist, you may not have had that luxury (as I probably would not). Consider the work of the outdoors bunch here and see if they have some suggestions vis a vis lighting by sunlight, altitude of..composition is fine, as noted.(I suspect they get up very early or stay out very late.) Hope this was leetle bit constructive, even from a mostly people pic shooter :-) GS

I will toss in a photo of the Multnomah Falls Bridge, just a snapshot, but it's easier to see what I mean about illumination of the subject. Which is more the bridge than the falls...

Hi Gerry,

That was a great critique! I can relate to it even more than you think and here's why...

we arrived here about halfway during our drive from the North Rim to the South Rim of the GC. The temperature was a blistering 110 outside and my family waited a long 40 mins baking in the car while I tried to find a place to get this shot from the other side of the bridge... unfortunately there was no place to shoot from. So I compromised and shot this from a convenient foot bridge that runs parallel to this one... sadly on the wrong side of the sun... so did the best I could with this.

I couldn't agree more with what you said and the photo u attached superbly illustrates your opinion. What I'm really happy about is that my thoughts at the time were along the same lines of your critique that goes to say I'm at least thinking right :)

I pitty the bloke who had to hold the keyrail up for both sides to fit together!Joking aside, this has the wow factor attached to it, nature's and man's combined efforts, ones eroding and other joining, great shot, good focus and nice colour, well done
