Old Man with Walking stick.

Just in case you wonder about his right eye: he has no sight in it and it is permanently half shut.

Great capture, though I think I'd like to see a little bit deeper focal range, maybe to include the far side of his forehead and tip of the staff he's carrying. But great exposure nonetheless.

You can jimmy things in many ways on this and bottom line is at a certain point its just subjective. To me, this is beautifully done and I find the tones subtle and rich beyond the fact that you really have him. Great job!

My favorite part about this photograph is the fact that his eye is isolated as the only point of truly sharp focus. It first draws you to look into his eyes, at which point you sort of just drift to the left following the line of his sight. Excellent work!

Thank you for rating one of my photos. You have quite a varied portfolo, but I think this folder may be your best. The tones are different than anything I remember seeing before and your subjects have a soulful quiet diginity about them - perhaps with a touch of melancholy.

What can I say that has not already been said by other PhotoNeters. I like your crop, don't change. It's perfect. TC

Brilliant photo - the best portrait I've seen in quite a while. The dark background adds much more than it subtracts, imo; the tonal differences between the skin and background are easy to differentiate, and the overall brightness is just perfect for this type of shot. Great expression, beautiful DOF - I don't know what more to ask for.

perhaps, you're right, Julius, I know I am often wrong....aside from my very subjective take on the lightness, darkness of your image on my monitor, your photograph has many fine qualities, in particular the contrast of the smoothness of the wooden stick and his skin to the texture of his shirt and his beard and hair. I must have been having a moment of caffeine-sharpness when I commented earlier.

Regards,

Bill
