Glinting in the Moonlight

babette_ross

I think the exposure on this was around two minutes... I was enchanted by the bright night and the twinkling snow... so i set up the tripod and took a series of shots... 15 sec. 30 sec. 1 min. 2 min. I didn't take into account the fact that the moon was still rising which is why it is a bit cut off, does it still work?

Nice shot. I'm not saying you did it "wrong" or anything but many would suggest to use the rule of thirds (classic and sometimes, challenged by many photographers trying something "new"). You've placed the horizon right in the centre of the image. Others may suggest to move the horizon down to the lower third of the frame to add more of the sky. In this case, if you were to do that, you'd have more sun (and most likely flare)... you might not have wanted that.

It's a nice shot. I hope you post more. The sparkles in the foreground are also interesting, I'm not quite sure what they are.

Take care!

i think you have made a good foto. i'll place the horizon more down to promote the sky and the moon shine throuh the trees. but theexposure is very good in the shadows. the fact that the moon is partially visible is good. the moon just tries to have a look on the earth. good photo.

best regards robertO
