oren_gampel 0 Posted March 10, 2003 Shot taken outside Kanchanaburi, some 3 hours drive west of bangkok. I held the camera high above my head to get the tiling effect. Comments are welcome. Link to comment
carol_watson 0 Posted March 11, 2003 I love the way this looks from a distance! And it's even more entrancing up close. What an inspiring place to be laid to rest... Link to comment
darrellwhittle 0 Posted March 11, 2003 This caught my eye as a thumnail and i like the big picture too. The pattern is intruiging and the inclusion of the person gives a nice scale and also keeps it alive! I would think it could be improved in compositional terms by excluding some or all the background from the top and showing more of the grave/tomb at the bottom. The top of the gold coloured object at the bottom right third i find particularly annoying because of its partial inclusion. Would it have been possible to get a different viewpoint and/or focal length? My own style would have been to get in close with a wide angle, fill the frame to a large degree with one grave/tomb and let the rest fill the frame up around the main one. Also, while a nice exposure the light is uninteresting. A lower, warmer light would probably make more of all the fine detail. An interesting place for photos and one that, if possible, deserves further visits. 5/5. Link to comment
oren_gampel 0 Posted March 11, 2003 I was thinking about loosing the upper part opted for more scenery rather of pattern. Cropping the lower part was tricky and I admit that I hassled with the golden acorn. Here is the original frame; If I could look through the viewfinder Ill probably include more of the front object. darrellwhittle 0 Posted March 14, 2003 Hi Oren Following from my earlier comment, I took the liberty of cropping your picture. I think the main interest in this pic' is the repeating pattern and so have attempted to exclude anything extraneous to that. Hope you don't mind. Cheers Link to comment
oren_gampel 0 Posted March 14, 2003 I think you are right, I prefer your version... Maybe I'll upload a version following your cropping... Link to comment
