amirali 1 Posted June 14, 2010 Jeff, I really like your style in capturing calmness. The little rock is a little bit distracting. but very nice work. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted June 14, 2010 Thanks you both for the positive feedback. I've just done a new crop and removed the rock with content-aware fill. Link to comment
brendan_trewartha 0 Posted June 14, 2010 Jeff,I like the cool blue tones in this photo, your positioning of the horizon and rocks works well for meThanks for sharing, Brendan. Link to comment
mario2 0 Posted June 14, 2010 Well, first of all I love the scene captured, the tonality in the water is really rich blending differents kinds of greens...If we speak about visual purity I'm bit agree with our colleague ,but for me don't dirturb exactly, if not, gives to the scenery a less minimalist impression. Is more, maybe will be fantastic to see other option with more rocks til the confluence of the frame working as a image's base .I'm not sure if I explained well.Best regards Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted June 15, 2010 Outstanding Jeff, the color pallette is beautiful. The calm atmosphere just emanates from the image. The small rock removal is an improvement, I have nothing to critique on the new version. Link to comment
wedeko 0 Posted June 16, 2010 I really like the atmosphere and colors in this one, thanks for sharing! Link to comment
Karl Schuler 48 Posted June 16, 2010 Dear Jeff, again and again you pilgrimage back to your holy site in quest for the ultimate photo and you discover that it is not a single shot but the variety of all of them which is the ultimate result you can achieve. Karl Link to comment
vbirke 0 Posted June 19, 2010 Superb minimalist landscape photography. Beautiful pastel-like colors. Link to comment
mikestacey 0 Posted June 19, 2010 Nice to see you've gone square again Jeff as I think you do that particularly well (no pun intended). I must investigate this content-aware fill; never heard of it. The blues are nice and provide a change from the usual red hues usually associated with seascapes. I'd have to disagree with Volker though, there is rather a lot of content for a minimalist image. jeff.grant 0 Posted June 20, 2010 Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. This shot was taken looking East after sunset. It is f/16 23 seconds at ISO 100. I have been very busy lately but hope to get back to the beach soon. This is a good time of year for this sort of shot.I guess that this is minimalist compared to the average seascape. It certainly has a lot less rocks and saturated colour than the norm. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted June 20, 2010 Thanks Terry. Mike, content aware fill is in CS5. It lets you get rid of some stuff that would have been very difficult before. I must experiment to see how well it handles subtle gradation like sky.In this image removing the rock was easy. It would have been hard without it. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted July 3, 2010 The crop seemed to work better at first sight for me, but after a while I am not sure. Besides the nice light and color, the repeat of shapes is a strong point here IMO. Clouds seem to move towards UR, and are connected to the rocks diagonally and by their shapes. This little rock LL is on the diagonal, like a focal point, I would not crop. An excellent seascape. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted July 4, 2010 I'm betwixt and between on removing the FG rock. I see both sides of the point, but still can't decide. What I do know is that I love the image-- kind of ethereal and other-worldly. Well done, Jeff! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
