Fire and Ice

Laguna Torre, Los Glaciares National Park, Patagonia, Argentina. A fiery sunset illuminates the cold icebergs of Laguna Torre, one of the most beautiful lakes in all of Patagonia. Excellent! Very dramatic scene, the composition is brilliant. I just think the middle third may be lacking a little something..perhaps some of the orangy light on the snow? Still, a great shot. Kind regards

Wonderful capture! You were able to manage such a difficult contrasty scene! Just beautiful: 7/7!

Beautiful moment and great capture. The blueish ice and blazing sky did something unique. Good stuff!

Great control of light to provide good detail to the contrasting elements, magnificent setting and composition.

Well done!

Mike:

Another spellbinding image you are treating us to here that really expresses the grandeur of the alpine environment. One aspect that just really makes the sale for me, beyond the obvious spectacular spires set against that fiery sky, is the soft orange glow on the upper reaches of the glacier and the spires (Fitzroy?). What a capture!

This is an excellent composition and place.  The colors and sharpness are fantastic.  I especially love the blues & golds and the sharp edges of the clouds and mountain in the upper left.  As Galane mentioned, perhaps pop up the oranges (golds) in the mid snow, or perhaps reduce the intensity of the aqua on the lower land.  Minor stuff, as this is a super image.  Regards, Jeff

Exception shot Michael, I like the ting star on the ice. Nice touch there.  Looks like there might be some flare on the tallest peak.  It makes you look at the cloud on it too, maybe a little more adjustments where the light and dark areas meet cloud and mountain.  Beautiful stuff.

Lovely location. Were you on the cruise ship? I am curious how big those icebergs are?

IMHO the light at the edges of clouds is too bright. If we have all definitions, I think I would work on it. Secondly cropping 5% at the bottom might be something to consider and remove the wave, I find it distracting especially to the icebergs nearby.

Thanks for bringing forth such an exotic location.

Best
