Scott, it is not difficult to Balance with the right light meter I have a selconic L358 and can measure the percentage ratio between the normal light and the flash.
Se how it works here, it´s a great funktion

The idea was to make her lighter it is quite common in the fashion images to highlight the model. but it all comes down to what you like :)
