I like this image, but I'm not sure that making it lighter would be a bad thing.  I find the detail in the center the most interesting part, and it seems that's what you wanted to emphasize, because it's in sharpest focus.  The lack of any really bright white bothers me a little, but I wonder if the petals would draw attention away from the center if they were brighter.  I don't think you need to worry about losing detail if you let them go lighter - they're already low on detail because of the depth of field.  Why not try a few variations and see which one you like best after you've had a chance to look at them side-by-side over the course of several days?
