Thanks guys!

Larry, the Palouse is pretty fantastic in spring.  The greens and yellows are bright, and the freshly tilled dirt creates a nice contrast.  I was lucky to have frost this particular morning and shot this image when the sun was just coming up, catching the golden rays on the hill tops. The colors are very close to what I saw, and were quite spectacular as they usually are this time of year.  I retained some of the blue in the shadows after an over-all white balance adjustment.  After adjusting the contrast I used a sat. mask to bring down the saturation a touch (using Tony Kuypers PS actions) and a vibrance mask to balance. I've spent many evenings and many mornings in the Palouse ,and have seen some pretty amazing light.  It might look unnatural to you, but is very real to me.  I guess you just have to see it to believe it, and having not been there yourself, I can totally understand how this might look pretty crazy to you. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though, and I  appreciate you taking the time to  comment and critique.  Something that many people don't do here.  Thanks for looking!  Chip

Wow Chip! This one's a stunner. The colors are very surreal as mentioned previously, and the frost has added an additional element to the image. That's what gives you the soft pastel colors you've captured here. Beautiful light, and superb composition.

All the best,
Neil
