Gary, This shot didn't just 'happen'. Right place, right time, good eye, good timing. Take a bow. (& there are probably 35 others you'd rather not show. Join the club.)I also think there's just the right amount of blur in this fast action shot.

I'd say you'd need to use faster film, and a faster lens than what you've got (of course that depends on what you were already using) and definately a faster shutter speed. I'm not sure it its in focus or if its suffering from camera shake. I know how it is to get get good volleyball shots. One thing I did last summer was I sat on the ground nearby and shot from there, this was obviously only with friends playing in a fun environment, but it was a heck of a lot easier to get a shot that way. Not very exciting maybe, but i got em. Mostly I think I did it because I was bored.

good concept, just too bad it didn't fall together technically. and in this one the blur hurts it too much. Sometimes a blur, particularly long lines can be fun.

Great timing on this shot--I think you got it just about perfectly. I like the intensity on the spiker's face. I have to agree, however, that the blur detracts from the picture--I'd definitely recommend using a faster shutter speed or flash (if that's possible). Happy shooting.
