I love photographing animals. You can get some really great candids

and I love their expressions. Any tips or advice is much appreciated.

Thank you so much.

It's a beautiful animal. I love his slightly mournful expression. The dark tones work well, but I'd love a bit more light and detail in that one visible eye.

P.S. While I still would like a bit more detail, I will add that in the larger version of this photograph, the eye comes across as much more visible, more detail.

A great shot, technically perfect light, colors and DOF. personally I love this shot bacause is very touching, I always wonder what an animal is thinking and sometimes I look at my dog and I feel like is trying to comunicate.

All my compliments

This is a wonderful portrait.  I love the lighting.  The dog is not that expressive, he's more pensive but it works with this lighting.  I love to shoot my dogs too, and I also have chocholate labs.

Resting in the morning light through the back window is one of my dog Kati's favorite things to do. On this particular morning as I was watching her rest so peacefully I was reminded of how much I liked to do this same thing as a little girl. I loved to snuggle up on the couch and sleep in until I was awakened by the warm light through the window as it shone on my face. It made me smile and I decided that it was the perfect time for me to practice. It had been just over a month since I purchased my first DSLR and I was eager to learn. I was still figuring out the differences between aperture and shutter speed and their relationship together. I took several photos that morning trying different things. This one is my favorite.
