Thanks so much.  This is a shot of Tina, aged 72, who lives within the walls of a castle in the Ligurian region of Italy.  We were invited by our host to assist Tina in creating a home-cooked meal at her house--focaccia, artichoke pie, apple fritters, and minestrone.  Tina couldn't have been more gracious and had many, many stories to share.  Koushik, thanks for the tip on the tight cropping.  It was a hard shot to take given that I was sitting next to the flour bag with no room to back up.  Next time, I need to bring a wider lens.

Jeff, I love all of the color and patterns. Plus I always prefer the depth and warmth that comes from using available light. I kind of like the close quarters. It makes me feel like I could be right there in the kitchen. If only you could add a scratch and sniff panel!

Such determination in her expression and the payoff looks to be a mighty tasty treat.  It must have been a wonderful experience.

Brad:  Tina was a real trip.  At one point, she told us that she used to be the Brigitte Bardot of the village.  Our hostess who has lived in this village told us that Tina, with her piercing blue eyes, was indeed a beautiful force of nature when she was younger.  She still is.

Alberto:  Thanks so much.

Linda M:  Her focaccia was out of this world. I had four pieces.  Deb, who took copious notes regarding her technique, tried to replicate it the other day.  Close, but no cigar.

A.K.: Thanks.  It was yummy. She packed us a lunch, too, which we ate before boarding our plane to return home.

Bob: I never traveled when I was young, but always wanted to.  I'm lucky to be married to a gal with wanderlust.

Emmanuel:  Soul is right.  The evening felt like being swept up in a whirlwind.  Manga! Manga!

This is a warm and well-handled photograph that feels documentary in nature and already relates nicely to your architectural shot next door. I think it will have more power as a series may grow which includes it.

El:  Thanks a bunch.

Fred:  I'm sifting through vacation shots trying to separate the chaff from the wheat.  I'll see if a series develops.  Thanks.

Tatjana:  An amazing lady and a memorable experience.

David W:  She was an incredibly expressive cook, her face often mirroring whatever her hands were doing.

Jeff, I couldn't imagine a composition with a better conjugation of patterns (all so rich and colourful)... this image has this unique feel of something between a classic painting and a kisch artwork. regards.

I liked too many things about this: The tight yet balanced composition, the joyful colors, just enough sense of movement and (most importantly) a top-class photo model : ) .

Much has been said already - my thoughts are pretty much in line with Linda's and Emmanuel's comments. Makes me hungry, this photo :-).

Really nice shot Jeff.  The color is gorgeous both from what the camera/you captured and her colorful kitchen and self.  I have visions of my grandmother up at 4 making homemade buttermilk bisquits, homemade buttermilk cornbread for lunch and dinner.  Thanks for that!

Love the life and color in this picture. Looks like you've been posting sporadically, kind of like myself. I'm visiting my family in northern California until the end of the month and probably won't be posting anything new till I get back. I talked to Amal Sircar on the phone; he's visiting his son in Santa Clara. Hopefully we'll be able to get together before I head back.
