Interesting, austere composition.  The tree is perfectly placed where the two hillsides meet, and the dark cloud against the white sky is very effective.

I think Jan's suggestion is a good one.  I tried it with a tendency toward high key, but wanted to recover a bit of detail in the foreground (although there may be too much) as well as in the cloud (both accomplished with the highlights/shadows tool), and then added more sharpening for detail in the tree branches.  This really is a nice photo, and I hope you don't mind my trying a couple of things with it.
