mnigro 0 Posted February 25, 2003 I love this image. Very bright and rich colors. Might think about cropping left side to square it up. Too much void over there. Very well done!!! Link to comment
ricardo_garcia2 0 Posted February 26, 2003 Nice photo, D. Tobias, note my comment here if you haven't already. Link to comment
jud 0 Posted February 27, 2003 Simple and well done. I like the constrat between the smooth lines and the sharp points-- they go well with the color contrast. I can barely see the moon-- might be worth it to "grow" it a little, although the open space does work well. Regards, Jud Link to comment
red_molly 0 Posted February 27, 2003 Color as color should be. Rich, graphic! On my monitor it appears that there may be somewhat of a problem with artifacts. A rescan and tweak would hopefully take care of that. Link to comment
gareth_harper 0 Posted March 1, 2003 Another example of colour overload. Way over saturated and as a result very unatural looking. Link to comment
darrin james 0 Posted March 1, 2003 Actually Gareth, the original looks like this too. Should I throw it away?? Link to comment
rudy - ny, ny 0 Posted March 1, 2003 I love the heavy saturation in this! Very rich and stoic. The mass of blue is well weighted against that shock of yellow and plants. This could be used to make a very forceful 2pg. spread in a magazine. Link to comment
gareth_harper 0 Posted March 2, 2003 The original looks like this? Yes then throw it away, it's would appear to be underexposed and hence oversaturated. Also the colour balance on the two plants looks well out. Velvia is not a film I like, the old RDP50 was far better. Link to comment
jack_lo_..._t_o 0 Posted March 2, 2003 What if this were a painting? Would it be possible still to say it needs to be "corrected"? I'd like to see this image glazed onto a ceramic tile. Link to comment
jack_lo_..._t_o 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Tobias: for once, I think your reworking is less than the original. The plants, the gradual darkening of sky, it's way richer. I'd much rather have Darrin's picture on my wall(or on a tile). While I'm at it: I've read all your past critiques and I (continue to) learn a great deal from them, but there is a "shame on you!" tone to what you portray as Digital Sin: improper gamma, improper use of ND filters, etc. Even if your DNA investigation of what this photographer did on his monitor is correct, I think his mistakes worked in this case. And if I were a painter I'd have invented that cable, exactly as it is. Link to comment
jack_lo_..._t_o 0 Posted March 6, 2003 For God's sake, you have this portfolio of vibrant, gorgeous images, and you care that someone gives you a 2 or a 3? The idea of rating your portfolio is exhausting to me because of the obligatory comment everytime you post a 7. Link to comment
