jigar_champaneria 0 Posted February 25, 2003 This cemetary sits in the middle of a busy thoroughfare and I had wondered about it every time I passed by on the bus. I finally took the time to take a closer look near the end of my stay in Singapore. The cemetary apparently has a caretaker, but as you can see, nothing much is taken care of here. Two things struck me about the place: How it sits right next everything that's so modern about Singapore and how it was set aside and still considered holy ground. So I've tried to capture the endless array of headstones in this shot. What do you think of this composition? Any ideas on how I could make it look more archaic and emphasize the age? Thanks! richardknox 0 Posted February 26, 2003 The subject matter has a mysterious quality that benefits from the lush green foliage and overcast light. I like the expansive feel that the green area in the background conveys, but if your goal is to emphasize the antiquity of the markers, maybe you have to sacrifice the long view for a tighter shot with more detail. Picking the essential elements to tell a story is always a challenge. As is, this shot succeeds in making me want to look closer and see more. Link to comment
