jamescredland 0 Posted April 4, 2010 This is one of a set of pictures i've been taking, collecting odd foreground objects and shapes that make me feel a little odd, as if the world may not be entirely real. I'm not sure if it's what a lot of people would call fine art on here, but I'm struggling for another category that would fit the whole set. I've been taken them all in square format, using an old Bronica camera, in black and white. Working in black and white gives me more things to shoot, perhaps at the loss of the occasional bit of beauty. It's also easier as the chemicals for development don't age as quickly in the bottles under my sink. So it's partially convenience. I take these pictures as a bit of private meditation, that is to say that I don't feel compelled to share them widely, and shooting on film helps maintain the laid back shooting approach. On the other hand it's hard to resist the temptation to show them and any feedback would help satisfy my itch for constant self improvement. cheers! Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted April 5, 2010 I certainly think this qualifies as fine art. Wonderful. What is the purpose of the freestanding brick wall? Link to comment
jamescredland 0 Posted April 5, 2010 Okay - I'll cease worrying which section I should place it in :) I think it's purpose in real life is to hide something, probably a bin, although it could just as easily hide a body! Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 6, 2010 I get the feeling this was very difficult to compose. It must be near impossible to keep all the horizontals horizontal and all the verticals vertical. Indeed, I find the foremost horizontal a little distracting. Link to comment
jamescredland 0 Posted April 6, 2010 Mmmm, I don't think all the things that could have been parallel were ... the builds they get to do the backs of carparks aren't the posh ones :) Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 6, 2010 I was referring to lens limitations as well as building limitations but I do take your point. Link to comment
