I like this lots. Two disparate subjects brought together and with plenty of things to marvel about. Like how the rooster prefers to sit outside and face up the thin band of warm sunlight; the flimsy sticks and ties that hold up the roost; the reflection in the yuckie water and the barrier of chain-link fencing. I've tried thinking about this shot without the train trucks. With a vertical crop to unhook the truck to the right. Just to test the resulting effect on me. To me the picture becomes colder and I'm less interested in looking. It goes to show the uplifting effect of having the title subjects in warm light. Hmm. Do I therefore ditch my dark stuff?

I can't shake it: it looks like the chicken is floating. Dunno if it's because lighting (the chicken appears to be in better lighting than the ground it's on), or the frame caused by the fence, or if I've just been sitting in front of this computer way too long. (probably the later )

Erik I like your photgraph a lot but am puzzled by your statement about train photos and I do not see the connection there is between the rootster and the train track which runs along side? I think your idea of photographing trains is an excellent one because of the number of tremendous opportunities there are.
