jawed yokels pulling off the road or, in some cases, just stopping on the road.

I mean environment for something more, there is not a point to lean an eye on it, so it isn't a composition at all! Maybe it would have been better to make a composition of two, mountain and meadow separated with a horizontal line, the vertical layout could have made it an interesting composition. Here, as it is the sky is a surplus, shows pretension a landscape composition to be made, but without success! .

A good snapshot of this moment in time and I think it has the potential to be better. I agree with above post on two counts, crop the sky out and raise the horizon line (at the bottom of the hills) to the top third point in composition, it makes a tighter more concentrated image.

Thanks for the feedback. The whole thing looks a little flat and the more I look, the less thrilled I am with the mountains. I wanted to show how the area really is blanketed with these flowers so I thought the mountains in back would give nice perspective. Now it just looks dull with a stab of color in the lower half. I'm not sure it is salvageable but I'll rework it a bit. I do appreciate the feedback.
