Guest Guest Posted March 16, 2010 Dieter, She is a beautiful girl. You have focused very well on her eyes. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer) and a very nice expression. She almost looks like she is anxiously awaiting something. Her skin tone is very good. The background is nicely neutral and beautifully burned in. She has applied her make-up very well. The lighting is very good. The shadows help to create a nice illusion of depth within your photograph. She has very good catch lights and specular highlights on her lips. I would have preferred her turned a bit at an angle to the camera because it is more slimming, feminine and graceful than posing her straight on to the camera, but this looks fine. Be careful of your side lights. The highlights on the right (her right) side of her face and on her hair are a bit bright. You are also getting refections in the corners of both of her eyes from these lights. A nice backlight or hair light would have better separated her from the background (notice her hair on her left side is very close to blending into the background). Your depth of field is so narrow that the back of her hair and shoulders are out of focus. I don't see a good reason to have any of her out of focus. An out of focus background is very nice and focuses attention on your subject. Parts of your subject out of focus will draw attention away from what is in focus. It is difficult to go wrong with having the entire subject in focus. This is especially noticeable on the overly bright section of hair (I think its hair?) on the right side of her head. There is a white area just above her upper lip that runs all the way across the top of her lip. I know this is not a milk ad, so something must be wrong. There is also a little white line, that looks like a hair, on her lower lip that should be removed. Your name and advertising is not part of the photograph. It would be appropriate to put your name on the mat. I would place your advertising (www.dieter.no) on the back of the photograph. Nice shot, Mark Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 17, 2010 This is a great image, but the one thing that sticks out to me is her shoulders are square with the camera. Here it is not that bad, as you cannot see the tips of her shoulders. Even on a petite woman, shoulders square to the camera look unflatteringly wide. Even a 15º rotation helps considerably.
