mtmixon 0 Posted March 14, 2010 The only other shot from my park-crawl yesterday that I like. I intentionally chose to cut off the top/side of the flower, since I thought it made for a more interesting composition than having the entire flower fill the frame, as well as allowing for more balance between the purple and green colors. I wonder if others feel the same way. Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted March 14, 2010 Michael, i agree with the colors, they are exceptional. As to your composition, am not quite sure about that. It is definitely not the norm, which for me has great appeal in itself. Have sat before this image for a considerable time and can not come up with any suggestions to improve it. So i guess that means i should just enjoy what you have created as it is. I hope you continue your quest into the world of flowers as is giving me much pleasure. All the best.....roger Link to comment

mtmixon 0 Posted March 15, 2010 Thanks everyone for the great comments and feedback. @Roger -- I think I will continue with flowers. My initial tendency is to overlook them, but getting close and playing with colors and shapes really does open up an entirely new world. Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted March 15, 2010 Michael, you want to be careful or you might end up getting hooked on the flowers. i looked at a rose 10 years ago fell into it, and since that time have only worked with flowers. Your right when you say is a "entirely new world" and one well worth exploring! Link to comment
joaniep 0 Posted March 16, 2010 I love the composition and the purple against the lime green is so beautiful . Link to comment
dloringphotos 0 Posted March 17, 2010 This is a fantastic shot. I agree with all the comments above. What I actually love about this, apart from the color, DOF and composition, is that you did not remove the pollen on the petals. Imperfections in flowers are, in my opinion, part of what make them beautiful. I agree with Roger - if this shot is any indication of your eye for flower photography, I'd keep at it.
