I was crawling around at a park today and found this perspective

interesting. Not sure if I'm pleased with the outcome, though. Would

appreciate suggestions for improvement.

Michael, can see what you mean about this one. I like the b/g, the colors work well together. If there is a problem it would be the placement of your focal flower. it just sort of feels out of place where it is. Think would also give some consideration to cropping from the bottom up just enough to remove petals along bottom border. Hope you submit some more from this shoot.

Thanks for the feedback, Roger. Yeah, I was struggling with placement. I didn't want to place the focal flower in the center (not interested in breaking compositional cardinal sins!), and if I moved it up a bit (so it wasn't so isolated in the corner), then either the flowers in front of it came more into view or I lost too much of the field of blurred flowers in the background. I'm sure there is/was a better way to frame it, but I failed to find it. And unfortunately, looking through the rest of my shots from this vantage point, all were essentially variations on this same framing. Oh well. :-)

Not too many of my other shots turned out...bad day in the field I guess (or I just need lots ore practice). I did post one more, though, which captures the same colors that attracted me in the first place.

Michael, can see what you mean by struggling with placement. A pity it did not come together as your colors are really lovely as is the softness associated with image. I seem to be having the same results in that I just can't seem to get a complete image where am happy with everything.

I agree with Roger's thoughts, however the more I look at this the more I like it. It is like looking down a busy city street full of humanity and there is just that one soul that stands out and commands your attention - "see me". Well done Michael.

Michael,

I actually disagree and think that the composition here, while different, really works well. To my eye, this shot is artistic; the focus is on the entire landscape frame of softly blurred purple flowers against the green grass. The added surprise is the beautifully lite, in-focus flower in the foreground. To my eye, it doesn't distract from the photo at all. Actually, my only recommendation would be to crop or clone out the bottom petals in the foreground at the way bottom of your frame.

Regards, David
