Without first visitng your page (I regret in fact not having done it more often), I just commented on the mertis of taking portraits in a natural environment outside of the usual studio setting, which I believe may be the case above. The expressions somehow often seem so much more authentic and representative of the person photographed than when a more formal approach is taken. It makes me think of a notable exception which is the photo of Churchill with his cigar taken by Karsh. But he was in a really bad mood and apparently said, come on I'm very busy, let's get this over with .. :-)

 

This is a very touching portrait that even in thumbnail drew my attention. The somewhat languid, longing expression of the eyes is filled with pathos and humanity. The tones are beautiful, the soft lighting too, and they combine with her expression to give the viewer the feeling of intimacy and belonging. To me this portrait is so good that it should almost remain private.
