sonneland 0 Posted March 7, 2010 Michael, this would be one of those rare images that got me excited viewing as a thumbnail, but when opened it up was disappointed. Your colors here are gorgeous. I just can't find a theme or a story to go with this composition. It well could be i am missing something here, perhaps it is just all about those wonderful colors. Link to comment
mtmixon 0 Posted March 8, 2010 Sorry you were disappointed, Roger. There is no theme here...just a photograph that plays with color, shape and negative space. I also liked the subtle bit of reflective moisture that was on this particular flower. To each his own, I guess. Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted March 8, 2010 Michael, my disappointment has nothing to do with how i regard your image. As a thumbnail it just really looked amazing. I was excited to open it up. When i did, I also saw the wonderful colors, the drop with the star, and yes, is a nice fit with negative space. If this was my image I would look at it and see those pluses, but what would stand out even more would be what i had let get away here. I mean you had really good light here on gorgeous colors, there are just so many possibilities. I always look at an image, either my own or yours or anyones, and see how i can improve on it. I guess thats part of what i find exciting about being into photography. So please don't take my critiques as personal. I would prefer to be on the same track with you than an "To each his own" sort of a relationship. All the best......roger Link to comment
mtmixon 0 Posted March 8, 2010 Thanks for the note, Roger. I guess I mis-interpreted your original post. It is true that there are probably a number of possibilities when you have colors and light like this, and I hope to explore more of those as I continue to explore macro photography. This was one of my first attempts, and sad to say, I haven't done a whole lot since. But I do still have my macro lens, and a growing desire to re-acquaint myself with that area of expression. :-) Take care. Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted March 8, 2010 Michael, if this is one of your first attempts at macro images, I would suggest you put some more effort into that area of your photography. This is just so close to being a fabulous image. I have also had a look at your portfolio which is full of lovely images. I grew up in Oregon and Washington and your images of Cannon beach have sure brought back some memories. I hope you start posting more work, as have noticed for as long as you have been a member you are one of those people who keeps a very low profile. All the best......roger Link to comment
joaniep 0 Posted March 8, 2010 This is the first time that I disagree with Roger , I love this , I like that it is off to the left and the rainbow of colors and the softness . Link to comment
ArtLionse 0 Posted March 9, 2010 this is a stunning abstract made out of flower shapes & colors. I like the contrast and opposing colors. Also good use of empty space on the right. Well done. Link to comment
krpradu 125 Posted March 9, 2010 What I like here is how you composed this subject, that is an excellent one,the angle you chosen. This contrast with strong color and bg makes this more mysterious and elegant same time, title is super too, best regards. Link to comment
