dyuti majumdar 0 Posted March 2, 2010 This was from a crowded bus in a late afternoon in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. I guess the woman could see a lens poking from the bus at the last second. Thanks for visiting and any critique is much appreciated. Link to comment

mtmixon 0 Posted March 3, 2010 The thumbnail for this shot was very compelling, and the colors and composition are outstanding. The only thing that bothers me is what looks like a bad blur job in Photoshop. The lens you list for this shot isn't particularly fast, and so I'm guessing the DOF we see was not from the lens, but was accomplished/enhanced in post. My expectation, as a viewer, would be that the woman (including her hat and sleeve) would be in focus and then the background would be blurred. Having part of her hat and sleeve out of focus, when other elements that are equally close to the camera out of focus, looks unnatural. So, assuming I'm correct and you achieved the DOF in post, I would recommend going back and bringing the rest of her hat, hair and sleeve into focus. If you did that, I think this would be a phenomenal image. Link to comment

dyuti majumdar 0 Posted March 4, 2010 Thanks everyone for your valuable comments. Michael: I think you are absolutely spot on. The original picture was taken from a bus window (when the bus slowed down or stopped momentarily) at very low evening light at ISO 3200. So I had to post process it with Corel (very new with the software). Before I saw your comment, I actually started working on the original image again (taken in jpg, so I am a little limited with options). I will repost the 2nd generation soon. Thanks again for commenting. Link to comment
mtmixon 0 Posted March 4, 2010 I appreciate the difficult circumstances you were presented with....a tough situation. Your edit certainly addresses the sharpness issue...she looks much more uniformly (and naturally) sharp. You may want to eliminate or lessen the sharpening in the background, as it introduces a fair bit of noise into the image. And you may also want to play with your Curves and/or Saturation again...your original post had richer colors. I hope I'm not being too nit-picky. :-) This is a lovely image. Link to comment
soniam 6 Posted March 5, 2010 Good for you for always being ready to snap a shot. I'm glad you did and I'm glad she caught you out of the corner of her eye. Superb clarity considering the circumstances! Very very well done! Link to comment
