For me, this photo offers a rich set of colors and detail and

geographical wonderment. Timing was important too. What do you think?

I think I like it. Is that yours? ** grin ** There is good sharpness. Great colors. No doubt about what the subject is. Nice cloudy sky for background. Even a reflection in the foreground. Good interest overall in the photo. A person to indicate scale. Yeah Yeah, its got it all. Nice one.

What is it about the geography that I should wonder about? Or am I just jaded with the excellent scenery we have around us here on our Island. Could be, maybe.

I might have made the black part of the frame a tad bigger.

MM,

Thanks,

Geography refers to an almost 10th wonder of the world in the background. The crater is something to see and volcano is well recognized, so the scene instantly transports one to HI.

Oooooo that crater!! Having seen it from the inside, I did not recognize it! Good excuse, huh? But when I saw it, it was a big, big, green basin. I forget what was built in there, if anything. Park facilities? Military ocean research? Our hotel window looked out over a park at another view of this, but that was a few years ago. It is Paradise, indeed. That is Honolulu? Right? If it is not, then I am full of beans.(which is entirely possible) I am getting lessons on HI this week, it seems. Which volcano?

MM,

Diamonhead is a volcano (inactive). I will post a photo of what is inside. Look for it. That probably is Honolulu. This was taken from Ala Moano park, which is a great jogging and walking park and good for picnics too. Have hat and water for sun is hot, as you probably remember.

Thanks,

Steve

Since you are an 'old salt' from the Navy, I must tell you that we walked up that beach by Honolulu quite a ways. (yup, need hat and sun screen) We found where the submersible boat was taking passengers under the sea to see the fishes and other creatures. They had just begun setting up habitat for the sea life, as that submersible was quite new. I have photos of the inside of that boat (I guess you would call it a boat). Would you care to have me attach one? They are not terrific photos, but just more Hawaiian lore.

Right, of course, Diamond Head, silly of me, sorry.

These are scans from old prints. Not terrific. Wish I had taken pictures through the glass of the marine life we saw.

Man,

That is coool. I will bet the sealife was something to see. Flash wouldn't have worked. Hope that the screen door was sealed. ;-)

Haaaaaa. They always lock the screen door. Nope flash would not work. There were divers out side of the boat. I cannot remember if they had lights or what they were using. But we could see the fish and creatures very well. Colorfull. Now you will just have to go see for yourself. A Grad present for her? and the rest of you get to go too!
