I am checking again and I am very appreciative of your visits and ratings. I am shocked at the over 1100 views this has got in less than 24 hours - I usually get 20 to 30 in that same time period if i am lucky. The hardest skill now is to see if i can learn from this one. Best regards,

Hi. Love this picture, first one I have commented on for a long time. The mountain peak is positioned perfectly and offset nicely by the foreground hill. The only "negative" thing for me is that the saturation is a bit high, but I wasn't there so can't say how it looked to your eyes. Regards.

Hi Tony. Beautiful capture. I really like the dramatic clouds and the way they interact with the mountain. Best regards Per.

Oh my gosh Tony - What a scene. Considering all the superlatives thrown at this I think the anonymous raters have been a little tough with a 5.7/5.5 rating especially as I have seen other images that are not as appealing as this one in the sixes. Maybe it is the luck of the draw! Warm regards,

Thanks again. I have started to make the rounds of my fellow photographers that visited this image but I may not be successful in visiting everybody. All of the very best.

Checking in again and my thanks for all of the comments and ratings.

Marc: re the saturation - I have a laptop and a desktop computer and the image looks different on both - on the desktop it looks 'right' and on the laptop it looks a bit dull. I suppose it depends on which monitor you are using and how it is calibrated.

Bella I am cool with the anonymous ratings and for what it is worth some one just rated it anonymously 4/4 to drop it a bit lower than what you mentioned. I have no control over that and based on all great comments and the 'regular' ratings we know it is better than a 4/4.

it felt like spring today (plus 5 C and sunny) so I went for a walk with my camera and it is imaging making that gives me the most joy. I don't think I got anything as good as this one but I will spend a little time reviewing them to see if there any unexpected gems. Happy image making to everyone.

I was not aware but I went and checked. It depends on the criteria chosen. I only have the photographers here at PN to thank for that and without whom that would not be possible. And now I ask for discernment to discover what made this one so appealing to many. Warm regards,

Let's see if I can help discern the merits of this image. In all honesty, I find it difficult to identify why one works better than another, but I still try to cull the appealing qualities when one of mine works well. Often is the case that I put up one that I feel will skyrocket, only to smolder. Then without expectation, I will throw one up halfheartedly, only to have it launch. Go figure! The obvious appeal, one that was mentioned several times, is the long slope of the mountain. Meanwhile, you placed the peak in the upper right third intersection. Well done by you. Next is the smaller mountain in front. Adds scale to the higher peak and creates depth with layering. No doubt, the peak being grazed by fast moving clouds also creates drama and gives the impression of height and scale. Clearly the color of those aspens among the green conifers gives added interest. Lastly, the golden/bronze colors of the sky finish it off. That's all I can come up with, other than it was captured by you!

Beautifully composed with superb fall foliage, and gorgeous light. Well done Tony!

All the best,
