Tony - Amazing richness of colors and lighting. The 3-D effect of the clouds is superb. Another beautiful piece of work!

I love your Alaska shots Tony, as they offer a completely different range of hues in their fall landscape. This was a  big trip for you...so much driving and you arrived back with a fascinating body of work to share with us all.

As for this particular image, I can see what Bill is saying and it may make for a great 'crop'.  The only obvious thing that really stands out for me is that dark line of clouds at the top.  I can see why you kept coming back to that image.  The dark line of clouds WAS  THERE....that day, while it takes away from the image at first glance, it makes a bold statement re cloud formations....as I am always fascinated with them.  This is certainly an odd configuration.

Also, a trip such as the one you embarked on, gives one time for 'introspection'; 'personal critique' and 'soul searching'.  That line of clouds could have meant something to you in the entirety of this image. Perhaps 2 versions of this one are appropriate in your 'personal portfolio'. If those clouds were cropped out, I think if it were my shot, I'd want to have one with them in....for I can see for myself a reason to KNOW they were there. A lovely landscape, rich in color, depth and detail.  Congrats, Gail

This is an outstanding photo. It' so full of beautifull colors that complete each other. It is a symphony of autumn colors combined with an excellent composition. For this picture you have to make time to leave a comment. (7)

Yeow!   Looks like a forest fire. Just beautiful. that bit of blue does a great deal for the image.  This would be a devil of a jigsaw puzzle. 6+ for me (if we're going to have this mindless, no explanation given, number system, why cant it be a ten point scale...?)

Wouldn't we all like to come back with an image like this! Gives the viewer a taste of the autumn beauty one can expect here.  I'm surprised that the colours, and thus the vegetation creating them, go so high on the mountains.  Live & learn!  You really lucked out with the atmospherics here as well.  Likely wouldn't be the same next time out.  Were the colours really that intense?  Any saturation manipulation pre or post exposure?  Best, LM.

My thanks to everyone - Len - pretty much how it came out of the camera. If memory serves me well - think I used my 70-300mm on a tripod on this and because I did not have a remote control, I probably used the self timer.

For what it is worth, I will be away for a while and not really sure when and if i will be back. There are matters outside of PN on which I must focus.

If I am not back before Christmas - all the very best to everyone and their family.

Nima, Volker and Lester - thank you for your support and here's wishing you a very Merry Christmas. I am suffering from a big Flu bug and hopefully it will all be gone by the 'big day'. All the best,

Tony, gave you a 7 yesterday; today came back to look at this again. Two things come to mind: 1. This is what large format cameras are for (wink); 2. If I had the pleasure to drive an RV onto a sight such as this... well, I would personally blow up the tires and cement the foundation... After a madding day of urbanity, scenically -- as close to heaven as it gets...

I usually get stuck in my recent folder and almost missed your comment and the fact that you rated this so generously. It is much appreciated.  I did a particular route and it was so pleasurable, I would give my eye tooth to get back there but thus far it is not in the cards. I agree with the large format camera need. I have read an article about a professional photographer (I am not) who uses his NIKON d3x (FAR TOO RICH FOR ME) and stitches several shots in the portrait mode to get the equivalent of a large format image. I have been practicing that and i would approach this scene differently.

Thank you for visiting several of my images. Your time, comments and ratings are appreciated.

I have two folders of Yukon images and i will open them for display temporarily.

All the best,

Tony, I know of stitching possibilities of digital cameras. There is no way in the world you can approximate even a 4x5 with a 35mm panorama. 35mm Digital cameras are convenient and cost efficient for fast snap-shots. Where you spend $$ for a trip to such an exotic spot and are in no hurry in setting up a perfectly calculated composition (consequently not costing much in film processing) a scan of the negative will yield matchless mural size fine grain images which are outside the reach of 35mm full sensors. My 2c impression. And the LF cameras are inexpensive these days compared to the full size 35mm sensors. One interesting mid-choice is the chinese panoramic cameras 6x12-6x24cm which are under $1000 and accept LF lenses...

Gosh, I hope they have mushrooms in those northern forests. Will visit some day, I hope.

Thanks for the update. While I am no expert on the Yukon after a one time driving visit, I do know a 'circular' routing that I would love to spend more time on a 2nd trip. If you ever plan to go, I would be more than happy to share any info that may help you to enjoy a trip there.

This is a fantastic shot ! The colours, clouds, the hills at the distance & the fantastic light has all come together to produce a true masterpiece. 7 from me.

Sincere regards.

I missed your comment and the fact that you rated it a 7 and I am now only realizing. I have so many images that even to access my workspace takes one or two tries and worse for the over 26000 comments when I try to access the part where it gives me the latest comments on my images. My apologies for my tardy response.

Wonderful dense fine detail that draws the viewer into and onward through the vast scope of this beautiful fall landscape. Captivating!
