karolostrivizas 2 Posted February 21, 2010 You nicely captured the difficult texture and tones of the snow Linda. …..Also successful light treatment and great depth in this snowy landscape image. …. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted February 22, 2010 A well balanced, nicely composed image that truly conveys winter conditions which I have seen. Very nice shot and not much more to add that has not already been said. It is way past my bedtime, so I am off PN until much later. Best regards, Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted February 22, 2010 I can't imagine eking out an existence in such isolation, but the ghost of their efforts is beautifully bleak. Link to comment

David-Wisse 5 Posted February 23, 2010 Hi Linda - Sorry I missed this one! Very compelling image - bleak except for the bit of blue sky. I like that you've included so much land and sly around the buildings. The sense of place is strong. Best, David Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 25, 2010 Balance of negative space is always very hard to do and to make sure the framing is correct to allow focus on the subject while not over powering with negative space and here is a perfect balance and well done... MJ Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted February 27, 2010 Something very primal about the scene. The vastness of land that surrounds us tiny human critters. Though pioneering was probably a tough life, this is a very soft scene, from lighting to textures to processing. The sky is very enveloping. Link to comment
tahir1 0 Posted March 1, 2010 Linda, I love the color palette, the starkness and of course the composition of this image. You have really captured the "Pioneers Lived Here" feeling! Tahir Link to comment
steveshinn 0 Posted March 2, 2010 Nicely done and it needs the color (i.e. no good in b&w) to really portray the Spartan feeling. Link to comment

ryourth 0 Posted April 16, 2010 Linda,You have captured the essence of an early prairie homestead.Your image creates a feeling of absolute isolation & without any amenities, a very lonely place.Really like the sharpness of the buildings & the soft focus of the background. very well crafted. billsymmons 0 Posted July 16, 2010 Such sparce elements in a barren landscape with a wonderful sky.Just beautifully composed, telling a story of a pretty tough life.Great stuff, Linda All my best, Bill Link to comment
deniselanterman 0 Posted August 23, 2010 Hi Linda,A very moving image. The barren landscape with the simple weathered structures with few windows seems so lonely, harsh, and empty . The sky and gently undulating hills implies a beauty which I hope offered some solace. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted August 24, 2010 Denise, thank you for your lovely, thoughtful comment. You have a beautiful way with words. I suspect that the original home owners didn't have much time or inclination to do much more than work to survive the harshness of their surroundings and eke out a meager living. We, in our leisurely existence, are fortunate that we can take the time to contemplate the beauty and atmosphere. Best wishes. Link to comment
