This photo really captured my interest. I love how the blue and green just pop in contrast to all of the otherwise dark colors. The hole in the tree made me think about childhood adventure and the Alice in Wonderland appeal. It is fun to speculate about location and the actual size of the tree based on its texture and the size of the person in comparison. I also think that this shot is from a perfect distance. It is close enough to identify that the blue is a person, but not close enough to make the person the highlight of the shot. I think the hole in the very large tree is still the focus, and the bright blue helps to draw attention to that exact place. If the shot were closer, it might be difficult to identify that the object is actually a tree.

This was taken in Muir Woods in California. This is my daughter standing in a hollowed out redwood tree. No photo shop involved.
