mg 0 Posted February 17, 2003 Hahaha... Ken, Mauricio made me wonder: are you by any chance, maybe not only "eggcentric", but somehow "eggocentric"? :-))))))))))))))Tell us the truth: you were inside this egg holding the candle, weren't you...? Link to comment
jimvanson 0 Posted February 17, 2003 Ken...wonderful to see the babies picture. As soon as I saw it I opened my fridge and told all the children that Uncle Ken posted cousin EggBerts birthday portrait. When I brought them all out to look they commented that the black line was surely a tear of pride running down EggBerts little chin. Cheers...jim Link to comment

mg 0 Posted February 18, 2003 Well, Ken... Let's be plain honest here. There was a bit of sarcasm in my previous posts...It's just beyond me how this picture - which is somehow amusing of course -, can get rated higher than for example Tony Dummett's Speaker's corner. All these eggs shots are reasonably well done, and reasonably amusing... All these pictures are probably worth 5s and sometimes very original, i.e 6... But hey, don't we all see this cropped shadow and this line on the egg...? Could the volume of the egg be rendered better ? Shouldn't the lighting be slightly softer ? Etc.All these questions are imao not completely meaningless, and I'm not sure how many people actually wondered about these things...Well, to me they matter. This picture being particularly "out of the blue" - or should I say "out of the egg ? :-) - is one of your best images... 7s ? Not to me. But hey, it was your birthday... :-) Cheers. Link to comment

rick vincent 1 Posted February 18, 2003 Oh, but this one was so easy Ken. I didn't even have to mask the girl. I just set the layer control to "lighten" and the black background around her chin dropped out of sight. Then, a "distort-shear filter" on the candle's flame. Elementary! On a more serious note...when I changed the orientation to vertical (before adding the woman's face), I really liked the large span of negative space above the egg. It added a whole new element of emptiness to the image and I almost posted it without the girl. But, then that would not have been as much fun now...would it? Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted February 19, 2003 Thanks for taking the time Rick ................ Link to comment

hanna_cowpe 0 Posted February 20, 2003 Well Ken, I think you should be made chief eggsecutive of the Egg Marketing Board, as you've managed to come up with such in-ovative ideas for what to do with an egg. Were you testing this one for freshness? Link to comment
seven 0 Posted February 21, 2003 It's a good idea Ken; I'd prefer softer light and a "pure" flame (I see cyan and white in your flame - but it must be my eyes as no one else has mentioned it.)I like the albumen running down like that but would really like to see more ballerinas please!!Hope you found that boiled egg-flavoured RC you were looking for. andrzej_bargiela 0 Posted February 23, 2003 This is an eggcellent shot (imo the best in your egg series). Well deserved 7/7. I wish I could give another 7/7 to Rick for his creative re-interpretation. Link to comment
