This is a repost; I sharpened the hoodoos and foreground.

Photographed millions of times over, my wife & I had this all to

ourselves one cold & gloomy morning. The sun appeared for about three

minutes, bathing the eastward canyon walls in bright orange, and then

hid behind winter clouds the entire day. It was very tricky lighting as the

snow and this side of the hoodoos remained in shadow, while part of

Thor's Hammer and the hoodoo on the left were lit. f22, 1.3 seconds,

11mm.

Fabulous scene and beautifully captured. Sometimes these wide-angle lenses are tricky to use and they work best when they are perfectly level but that may not suit the scene you are shooting. Best regards on a terrific image.

Nice capture Jeff, this photo has everything, perfect timing (snow, brief glimpse of the sun) no doubt due to perseverance. The lighting also makes the shot with nice side lighting on the LHS rocks, the star affect of the sun through the rocks and clouds on the RHS. Looks like an amazing place, in particular with the snow cover, looking forward to seeing some more of your photos around here.

Magic place magic shot. It takes a very clean lens and filter to shoot directly into the sun without producing any flare spots. this has been achieved to perfection here. Good composition and sun location within the frame.

Excellent
