abargrill 0 Posted February 1, 2010 I like the seeming intervention of the men in suits into the scene. Good photo! Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 2, 2010 Yes, very much a growing sense of menace, amplified by the purposeful walk of the four men in dark suits towards the suspiciously stopped black sedan. Everything contributes to the dramatic narrative and the atmosphere of impending confrontation: the strong, slanting shadows; the men entering the frame from the left and cutting across the Rubicon-like diagonal of the crosswalk which neatly divides the picture in two; the dark, centrally placed waste bucket; the mysterious metal cylanders that stand incongruously on the corner; even the pedestrians tucked away on the periphery, unaware of the unfolding drama. This one goes into my favorites as a sterling example of how to use light and intersecting angles to create an atmosphere of implied melodrama. Link to comment
3m 0 Posted February 3, 2010 I cannot say much more, after Jack so cleverly put his impressions on your photo above. I just want to add my compliments for your ability and perception to see this impending scene ( of what could possibly also be 4 NY men, out on a lunch break....) and then to be able to create this storytelling photo...Really great! jeffl7 0 Posted February 28, 2010 Almost choreographed. All those black-clad characters, including the trashcan and the car, seem a menacing force. An incredible shot, well timed and well done. Link to comment
