karolostrivizas 2 Posted January 9, 2010 Germany, Berlin Zoo................. A king behind bars, a prisoner without a crime, a prisoner who never stood a trial................ This magnificent proud animal was staring at the people passing in front of the cage and its sad look narrated the unjust condemnation.............. It was an expressive look with so many questions…...........................Your critique will be much appreciated…….… Many thanks. Link to comment
matman1975 0 Posted January 9, 2010 I rarely comment on non wild photos, but this particular shot attracts the viewer's attention immediately. Extremely sharp with eyes that narrate the whole story! Well done Karole....kali Xronia! Link to comment

hans11664883765 0 Posted January 9, 2010 Nice close up. The grey manes and hair underneath the jaw make it look like a wise old King gazing over his Kingdom. Link to comment

shrosa1483 0 Posted January 10, 2010 Exquisite close-up. Although he does appear sad, his regal qualities are so well presented. I love the details in the face and mane surrounding the face. Link to comment
herma 0 Posted January 10, 2010 There is a reason so many people have commented. Great capture. I think it is the fold in the cheek which in a way is very human. Nice job on the eye sharpening but I think you are close to pushing it. I don't think it needs this much sharpening because you caught something special regardless. Herma Link to comment
dgv 1 Posted January 10, 2010 A sad look indeed, Karole, which you captured very well...there is a human quality about this look...a good likeness to Aslan pertrayed in Narnia. Warm regards, Dimitris. Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted January 10, 2010 Karolos, you truly have captured one of the finest close ups of this mighty beast I have seen. One almost feels they could reach out and feel the softness of his fur. The expression in his eyes seems sad, but perhpas he is 'day dreaming' . I know I am taking thoughts away from the unjustness of his plight....but maybe he was "rescued" in the wild, as many of our animals are in our local Zoos. This may not be the case.....but whatever the circumstances that brought him to this Zoo....he looks like they do take very good care of him. If he was still in the wild, he may not have even been alive when this shot was taken....and then again...it is the nature of "the survival of the fittest" that is the natural order of things. Whatever the case, you have captured an extremely 'intimate moment' between man and beast. Very nice work Karolos. Most sincerely, Gail Link to comment

chris_panagiotidis 0 Posted January 10, 2010 Though a story-telling photo speaks for itself, the words accompanying this striking portrait are on a par with the impact it instantly creates; and certainly the skills engaged for taking and editing the image are being elevated by the noble thoughts of its author -expresed with a sorrowful mood ,as the sadness detected in the eyes of this nature wonder . The lawyer in you is never asleep , Karolos, even when being far from a court room . There is a striking aliveness in this vague gaze that penetrates with its radiating force . Richness and crispness of the face detaIs cannot take the viewer off it. CONGRATULATIONS! Link to comment
