May have been 'tough,' but it came out very nicely. Excellent composition, and the golden light on the little fellow couldn't be better. Well done, Jennifer. Cheers! Chris

I have the older style 500mm f/8 C Reflex and I still think it is a great lens. The focus on it is still smooth as butter but as cold as it looks here, I think it might be a little stiff!

This is a great image from the word go. The bird and cable are very sharp. Being a mirror lens, there is nothing you can do with DoF, but it looks very good. The "donutting" is kept to a minimum. This quirk of mirror lenses bothers some people, but I am not one of them. The colors in the background match the bird's colors very well.

I am not quite sure what is going on with the ends of the cable though; they look washed out. Mirror lenses, by virtue of their construction, vignette (though with my old Nikkor it's almost unnoticeable) but you would expect them to be dark and not light. But that's more of a nitpick.

This is a great image and good on you for getting it hand held!

I thought that the 'lightening' on the ends of the wire was the result of some treatment that Jennifer applied around the perimeter; I'm betting that it is not an effect of the lens. Chris

I thought about that too Chris, and I am sure you are correct.
