tjfuss 0 Posted January 10, 2010 Looking down from beside the Middle Falls in Letchworth State Park in New York. Thanks for looking! Link to comment
JeffBryce 0 Posted January 11, 2010 Too bad this one is getting average ratings with no comments. I was at Letchworth for the first time two years ago and the place is beautiful, although I found it challenging photographically due to the harsh lighting that day (perhaps it's like that a lot?). I appreciate the abstract that you have created and the curve of the soft green/brown is great. However, the upper section-- the gray rock and white/blue water-- appears blown out. Is it possible to reduce the highlights in these areas and perhaps increase the shadow detail a bit, especially in the lower left? If so, I think the image would really pop! tjfuss 0 Posted January 11, 2010 Thanks Jeff, I appreciate that you took the time to write some actual comments. I'm worried though about the top section looking blown out. In my original Photoshop file, the white water maxes out around 245 and the grey rock comes in around 150-160. I get good detail on both my screen and in print. Maybe I should go check it out on some other monitors? Gotta agree about the dark lower left corner - I'll go back to the raw file and see if there's anything to bring out in that area. JeffBryce 0 Posted January 13, 2010 Good point about the monitor. I was viewing it on a laptop and am now looking at it on a 24" iMac. Much more detail, especially in the greens and browns. The gray looks improved but I still think the white & blue looks too light. Perhaps just a personal preference. I guess all this doesn't really matter since you say that the print looks great.
