jonj 0 Posted December 30, 2009 A little overkill on the processing, It's a great photo that does not need the added PS. Link to comment
papasan 0 Posted December 30, 2009 This is a beautiful image. I like the tenderness of the two animals. Your post processing is immaculate. I disagree with the previous comment, maybe this is a good picture on it's own but with your post processing you have created a piece of art from a good photo. Really well done. chrisvest 1 Posted January 2, 2010 hi guys, thanks for the comments. the image "sampled" is andrew wyeth's christina's world: mostly the edifice on the hill; i added it as a background element to this many layered work. as always, my compositions are made of MANY images (i label each of my pictures "painted photo montage")-- the point being that i don't want anyone to confuse my images with conventional photography-- the last thing i want is for anyone to wonder whether the picture is "fake"... i want it to be immediately obvious that the image is indeed contrived. of COURSE it is "fake"!! -- that is, it's not a mechanical recording of nature's artistry, but a creation driven by my imagination. the original horse and mule photo was, to my eye, boring, but i picked out the elements that had potential and combined them with other digitally painted and photographic components. there are plenty of practitioners of photo-manipulation out there, but the part of the artistic evolution (or movement if you prefer) that i want to participate in is the one that is attempting to bridge painting and photography. thanks again for your thoughts amigos. Guest Guest Posted January 2, 2010 As usual, I love it! You truly do "paint" with light to bring out a glow. Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted January 2, 2010 Your title gave a nice clue as to the famous painting used! Had to think a bit though! I like this for what it is, with no expectation that it should be anything but a well done illustration of a pastoral scene. I think criticism that it is not "straight photography" misses the creative point of the work entirely. David Link to comment

drewphotos 0 Posted August 31, 2012 It works & works well... no need to repeat all the reasons why... the other folks have done that well enough, already. Obviously, I agree w/ them. Actually, I think the geese add a nice touch, making it less of a 'still life', animates the whole thing. Cheers,Drew Link to comment
