Guest Guest Posted December 23, 2009 Like capturing the notes of a scale. A musical interlude. The passion of red. The cool of blue. (Jazz?) Suggestion of the body of the player but focus on the all-important hand. Minimal touch with maximized energy. Also, and simply, very nice to look at. P.S. This photo just popped up in my follow-up comments section and, for the first time, I noticed the title. As I've said, I keep forgetting to look at titles. So, it still looks like a guitar neck and keys to me and still makes music for me. Nice job! Link to comment

gordonjb 10,860 Posted December 23, 2009 Fred; Your original deduction was accurate. The technical term for a tuning " key" on a guitar is machine head. I don't know if you would remember that old Deep Purple record of the same name from the 70's ? I am glad this hit you on both levels. I found the shapes and colours functioning well as an abstract but I also hoped that it would come through as musical as well. Markku; Thanks for the seasons greeting. I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.I am likewise indebted to your continued support and encouragement. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 24, 2009 Uncle Gordy drops by again with gifts for all the good little kiddies. Santa can take a hike. Once again you present a master class in seeing which will cause me to tear my few remaining strands of hair out when I compare these to my own plodding efforts. Brilliant use of color and form to produce a stunning abstract. I'm overwhelmed. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 24, 2009 For me it is pure music( what does it mean machine head is it the music instrument? )It reminds me your other work( Garage band retro) that I liked as well as a strong feeling of music. The diagonal "jumping" semi circular lines on the R are like the nots that produce the music, the feeling is there, even the musician and the whole is blurred. The color palette and composition are very touching for me., as if I see and hear the show from far away.... Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted December 30, 2009 Jack; This abstraction business can be hit or miss so glad this one struck a chord for you. Pnina; Machine head is the term for the mechanism used to adjust the tension on the strings of a string instrument to tune the strings. This is the neck and head of an electric guitar. The sharp lines are highlights from the glare on those metallic machine heads. I am happy to know that you can hear the music. Mario; Thanks for your encouragement. Link to comment
